Comic Book Christs?

Found this entry on the Get Religion blog while surfing and found it quite interesting. As a long time marvel comics fan and collector (Thor; Dr. Strange; old Jack Kirby classics like The Eternals), one appeal to me has always been the mythic element, the creation of icons who embody our greatest hopes and worst fears. Good discussion. I was just disappointed that at Adherents.com there really weren’t any Lutheran superheros… Saint/Sinner Man? Lutefisk Lady? Catechism Boy?

Jesus hero

Its just crazy when people don’t understand the power of myth and literally turn Jesus in a comic book character. some folks just don’t get anything past third grade literalism and their own paranoia.

    Sounds like a cool idea I would like to create! There is a grapic novel series about Buddha, why not one about Jesus!
