What is the meaning of life? That is the question I had dropped into my lap this week and I really don’t have anyplace on the net to look for it. And that may be a good thing. Its probably a video buried deep on You Tube.

The song “Two Eyes” is by Douglas Scott came as podsafe music via The Area 51 Show, still my favorite comedy podcast to date. Sadly, the site is dead, the shows are gone and all that are left seems to be appeals for sponsorship. Doug was one of the two hosts, so if anyone knows how to find him, his music that he posted at the end was excellent.

    Dude… 42 is *NOT OLD.*

Why do you seem to think that someone else’s life experience is more valid than your own? That doesn’t make sense to me.

I think you’re spot-on with your assessment that the “Golden Rule” is where meaning is to be found. Human beings are social creatures, and it’s our temporal interaction which is where meaning is possible. The fact that human interaction is so temporal is exactly why it has value.

    I forgot to ask:

Why do members of your congregation have a problem with you keeping one of the 10 commandments?

Just happened upon your cast while getting ideas for mine. I listened to at least 7-8 others was not too impressed. I was pleasantly surprised with yours. Nicely original, good music and lesson. You seem a bit “edgy”, and I like that!

    Take care…Doug

    Tom,

Great podcast!!. Was moved by your experience. It is easy to forget how each of us touch the like of another, without realization. I was asked by a stranger this week if I had ever been a mentor. The question took me by surprise, but after a moments reflection, I was proud to say that I had been (or at least I like to think so) 30 years of theatre: acting, directing and teaching. Whether we realize it not, through or actions, we are all mentors in one way or another. Your podcasts do a great deal for me,as well as the few meetings we have had.

    Thank you

Alright, it’s been quite long enough. Next installment please! Again, my small group is running out of things to discuss!

    Excellent as always Tom.

    Okay, next installment tomorrow.

Why do some members have problems with me keeping one of the 10 commandments? Probably because none of us like having to look in the mirror because we all come up short. Part of that thing classic Lutherans call a function of the Law.

    Tom,
Thanks for bringing up the age old question, it really spurred me to ask it again. So I did, in my most recent podcast, “Where is the meaning in life?” Let me know what you think (if you have the time)
