I am moses postmodern wired jesus

Here is a new podcast I’ved called I AM, We Are – play on the the Hebrew name of of God and the nature of being a discipling community, the Church. I begin with my recent confirmation camp experience, painting a picture of the faith journey of millenials out of an exercise one of the other pastors had them do. I then connect them to the web page IAmSecond.com, an example of postmodern faith-telling.

One step closer to episode #50, which I think is going to be on Facebooking Faith.

As I have stated before in my comments I always take at least one thing form these podcasts. But before I go into that I have to say when you first mentioned a song from a while ago from an artist who disappeared I thought I was going to hear Douglas Scott’s “Two Eyes” from the Area 51 Podcast. After the podcast was over I quickly found in my mass of files and am now listening to it.

Anyways, what I took from this podcast is yes, congregations need to realize that they need to change. This is as prevelant as it gets when my Grandma comes to town and she reads from the bible and other stuff like that and I do not think she realizes that thats the sort of stuff that almost pushes some people away from learning about God and God’s work. I believe that more modern stuff (like power points, and videos and other tech things) attract us to the church.

Thanks as always for the great podcasts PT and I look forward to the big five-o.

I am glad that every generation for thousands of years sees the conversion of people from whatever the popular sellout is to the old fashioned righteousness that is part of the narrow road. It may look different in every generation, but it is there.

Ah, Jake, you remember Area 51 also! I’m glad I saved my archive but Douglas Scott is no where to be found. But he did send out those last three songs: 10,000 Jennys, Two Eyes, and I Am We Are. I really liked all three.

Like Don said, the time comes when fads pass for something of substance. The thing now is that we are looking at a language/communication shift, not just a fad, and its hard to tell the difference. I’m convinced its a shift of the magnitude of the advent of the printing press, but has the added dimension is that entire generation is already speaking this new language. As Leonard Sweet put it, adults in the church need to learn from our kids now, not the other way around, if we are going to communicate the gospel effectively again.
