Here are my reflections on Katrina and the age old question of if there is a God, why do things like this happen. My proposal at the end of the podcast is that if you know of ways beyond just giving money to help with the relief effort, send me the links. Rebuilding, equipment convoys and collections, etc… I’ll set up a page where I’ll post these for the long term for folks to access.

I also pose the idea to follow the example of bloggers and The Truth Laid Bare blog and do a podcast day of relief for the victims of Katrina. If you are a podcaster, let’s see if we can get other folks involved, maybe see if we can get Adam Curry to get the word out and make it happen. I’ll try and get a promo off to him tomorrow but let’s all see what we can make happen.

Another great podcast. I love your idea of getting podcasters involved with helping generate relief efforts. Technology has had a great impact on communication, by forming a global community. People who might not otherwise ever cross paths, can now share ideas and get the word out of important causes.

Last night, we were lucky enough to have the band “Bowling For Soup” put on an impromtu free show at a local bar/restaurant. There were about 1,000 people that showed up, and over $9,000 was raised for the Red Cross. It’s nice to know that our generation cares for more than just “me”.

I ranted on theodicy on my own podcast before listening to yours. I like your points. I think I touched upon a few of them. Of course, the study of theodicy solves nothing; the conclusions are inevitably going to be the same we see in the book of Job… which nobody reads, so nobody recognizes that it HAS no real conclusion.

PS — Some schmucks have already blamed the disaster on God’s judgment. My attitude is that they’re false prophets. Real prophets would have said something BEFORE this happened.
